Filipinos have leaning for coming up with new or additional meanings for common words which would definitely be confusing for Americans.
Words that are commonly literal translations of U.S. terms and expressions that are widely used in the Philippines but taken in different context in the United States.
“Aircon” use air-conditioner or air-conditioning. “Already” use an expression of exaspiration. Try not to use it at the end of your sentence. “Batches” use teams, groups or classes. “Bottomless” use refillable. “C.R.” use restroom, toilet, bathroom or the john. “Come again?” use pardon me? or say that again please. “Fall in line” use stand on line. “Fetching” use picking up someone. “accident prone area” use high rick area. “ballpen” use ballpoint pen. “Blow-out” Just use party of a feast.
